Ex Nihilo draws inspiration from highly developed worlds such as those in the Codex Seraphinianus by Luigi Serafini and Castle in the Sky directed by Hayao Miyazaki. The world allows the player to freely run and climb in order to explore the peculiar chain of floating islands. The goal of the project was to create a breathing world that was highly detailed. The logic and flow of the world revolves around a consistent hand motif. Our hands are what allow us to build, they are what allowed me to create this world and what give others the agency to create their own realities. Our hands have a somewhat celestial quality, allowing us to become the gods of these spaces, the masters of our own worlds and builders of new realities.

Ex Nihilo is meant to be enjoyed with the HTC Vive in virtual reality. Use the grip buttons to walk and the trigger buttons to grab grippable surfaces.
