Space “Invader” is a polemical video game that parodies the classical Space Invaders game but with a colonial narrative. The game play is the same: press a button to shoot, use the joystick to move, keep advancing to each level and get a high score; but it’s not what it seems. After each level the “enemies” will question to your actions and adapt to your attacks. Also the environment changes as you get to advanced levels such as an asteroid field.

Through this game, it questions the narrative of many classic video games and how colonialist ideals continue today in today’s post colonial era. Colonialism can be seen in my classical games where the player explores a new world and eliminate the natives of that world; and Space Invaders has that implicit theme. The question is, who is the invader: you or them?
