The Game Lab took a break from research to host a quick, jam-style fashion show where lab members designed, sew, built, and make-up their cyberpunk alter egos in just one weekend. Eddo Stern hosted a presentation exploring the aesthetics of cyberpunk, from Max Headroom to Netrunner to William Gibson. After the presentation, participants were encouraged to model themselves after strong influences in cyberpunk, loosely divided into Lo Tek vs. Corp. The entire experiment culminated in a photo shoot consisting of costumes ranging from cyber-drug users, trash-rat inventors, anti-surveillance hacktivists, and VR-addicted fetishists. The final photos were then edited heavily to fully realize each lab member’s vision for themselves in the cyberfuture.
