The Game Lab took a break from research to host a quick, jam-style fashion show where lab members designed, sewed, built, and makeupped their cyberpunk alter egos in just one weekend. Eddo Stern hosted a presentation exploring the aesthetics of cyberpunk, from Max Headroom to Netrunner to William Gibson. A collaborative Google Drive inspiration folder was created to be shared and edited. After the presentation, participants were encouraged to model themselves after strong influences in cyberpunk, loosely divided into Lo Tek vs. Corp. The weekend culminated in a photo shoot with costumes ranging from cyber-drug users, anti-surveillance hacktivists, trash-rat inventors, and VR-addicted fetishists. The final photos were then edited heavily to fully realize each lab member’s vision for themselves in the cyberfuture.
